hip hip horray for our wonderful notebooks from our b.f.f. ... Classroom Central!

LOVE does not even describe our affection for our new notebooks!

They are so very perfect as we begin to prepare ourselves for EOG testing (yikes!!!).

Thanks (as always) to our wonderful friends at Classroom Central and their donors for these additions to our daily learning experience.

With appreciation,
Mrs. Preville and her 4th grade students

Notice our creative use of post-its to create (color-coded) divers in our notebooks.  Impressive organizations skills, right???? :-)

Charlotte Motor Speedway field trip

We had a blast visiting Charlotte's very own Motor Speedway for our intercession field trip!  I, for one, now understand why people love NASCAR so much!  The sound of the cars racing by us was incredible and we really enjoyed sitting in the stands to cheer as cars zoomed past us!

Spring break here we come!!!

Today is our last day before we are officially on spring break - although I know that I will be seeing some of you next week during spring intercession.
That being said, we had a flurry of activity all day long.

It started off with COACHES!  Our coaches will coach us through those brutal EOG tests at the end of May.  When we come back from break, they will be ready to teach us some very important strategies to be successful on the EOGs (like: covering up answer choices, eliminating "crazy" answers, plug and chug, determine reading/math skills...and lots and lots OF STAMINA.
We didn't get finished before we went to Book Madness - but our coaches really began to take shape...

Ummm....this one still needs a little bit of work...

Our certified #1 head coach ---- Boogie Ugie Ugie hangin' out with the other soon to be coaches!

Spring Fever!!!

Ok, here are Mrs. Preville's helpful suggestions for spring break...

1. READ, READ, READ!!!

2. READ, READ, READ!!!

3. READ, READ, READ!!! Yup, I can't say it enough....READ, READ, READ to succeed!!!

4. Visit http://www.firstinmath.com/, http://www.mathplayground.com/, or http://www.learning.com/ for  fun activities to keep your math skills sharp over the break.  If you need your user name & password, let me know.

5. Fill your reader's bag with lots of great things to read over the break.
6. Don't forget about the awesome public library in Monroe for an incredible selection of books, audiobooks, magazines, and activities for you and your family.

7. Reflect on what YOUR goals are so that you can continue to grow as a reader, writer, mathmatician, friend, student, 4th grader....  "If you don't know where you're going, then you'll probally end up somewhere else"  ... and that, my friends, means that you'll end up with no progress.

8. Relax and come back refreshed, ready to work hard, and bring it on when you come back!

9. READ

10. READ

11. READ!!!!

Enjoy your spring break Eagles!!!

Love,
Mrs. Preville
