Holiday stockings....

Here are pictures from the week of our holiday stockings!
Wednesday ...
Some stockings are getting really full!
I really loved those clear folders!   They have already found so many uses for them!
Thursday....notepads, pen and a ruler!
I really loved those notepads too!  They have already found so many uses for them too (like...this morning some boys were taking a survey about McDonalds toys in Happy Meals with their super fancy notepads... they looked like journalists).
Thursday...
Friday...a placemat, activity book, and bag of colored pencils.
Friday's goodies!
Some of the bags got to be too much for our 'clips' ... by Friday, three clips had to be hot glued back onto the cabinet.   (that's a pretty great problem to have, isn't it?)

Siara rocks the house at the December family night!

East Elementary students and their families came to school tonight to learn about countries and cultures all over the world.  My class learned about France and created posters about french, Paris and "Top Secret Facts about France".
Bonjour!  Jacqueline and her dad 'visit' France.  :-)

....back to Siara.  So, tonight Siara stood in front of a packed auditorium to sing a song she learned in Japanese (next time, I'll recruit her to learn a song in french too!).  She ROCKED THE HOUSE!  Siara is not only INCREDIBLY brave, but also INCREDIBLY talented!
Siara before she went on stage.  Look how calm she is!  I'm pretty sure I would be FREAKING OUT!

Sorry it took so long to put this video on the blog Siara...but....dun dun dun dunnnnn!!!  Here is Siara's amazing performance from the December family night!!!

D3 & P4 freak out at The Scholastic Warehouse Sale!

Thanks to a grant from OMNOVA, D3 (Ms. Davis) and P4 (umm...that would be me) got to FREAK OUT at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale!  Each of us were given $500 to enhance our classroom library and listening stations with new books!

So... last week the UPS delivery truck brought our class two full boxes of books and audio cds from Scholastic (see previous post: "Let there be....AWESOME BOOKS!")

Well, I thought I had just died and gone to heaven.  Then, I visited the Warehouse Sale on Wednesday. It was simply awesome!  I died and went to heaven all over again!

Load those books up D3.

Is this a dream!?!

Yup!  I'll take 'em...they're just perfect!

Big grins!!!

Just like my very own Prince Charming, Rich helped with the grunt work and (wonderfully) heavy boxes of books.

Load 'em up!  Next stop, East Elementary!

Holiday stockings (...or...lunch bags) hung with care

As you know, Classroom Central is by far one of my most favorite places ever!  The sight of school supplies is a beautiful thing.  The sight of FREE school supplies for my students...well...that is simply AMAZING!

With that being said, this is the first installment of a series of holiday school supply gifts for my 4th graders.  Stay tuned for much much more...
'Twas the night before Friday, when all through the school
Not a student was stirring;
The lunch bags stockings were hung by the cabinets with care,
In hopes that school supplies would soon appear there;
.......

In true Courtney Preville fashion, I attempted to 'monogram' each lunch bag stocking with their initials (I pretty much attempt to add my initials to everything I own).   I'm not sure if they will all truly appreciate the monogram - but I couldn't resist.  :-)

A book from Scholastic and a bookmark to use with our INCREDIBLE new books from the OMINVA grant.

Secret Santa

This year we are continuing our tradition of secret santa!  YAY!  Please make a HOMEMADE gift for your secret classmate and bring it to school by Wednesday, December 15th.  We will exchange our gifts on Friday, December 17th.

Last year Perla's Secret Santa made her flowers!
Dulce's Secret Santa made her a purse.  Ohhh la la!

Ohhhh!!  Ahhh!!

A purse with a beautiful handle!

Let there be .... AWESOME BOOKS!

Fresh out of the boxes!
We just got two boxes of brand new books from Scholastic!  Mrs. Preville wrote a request for new and interesting books for our classroom .... and  ..... here they are!

We are even getting more next week when Mrs. Preville visits the Scholastic Warehouse Sale - can you believe it?

We now have our very own copies of some of our favorite books and LOTS of new favorites to discover!

Awesomeeeeeeee!!

So happy!

Yes, they're pretending to read their new books.

Really...they're just waiting for the picture session to be over so that they can really go off to snuggle up to our new books!

Ohhhhh!! Ahhh!!

Look at this awesome writer!

Emalee is a great writer!  She works very hard on her words!  She even wrote this blog post - and she is only in first grade!  I can't wait to see her in fourth grade in a few years!

Terrific Kid for November

Mrs. Preville's class is proud to announce our TERRIFIC KID for the month of November! This month the students voted Ja'milah as a model student for COMPASSION!  Ja'milah is always thinking of others - saying sweet words of encouragement and making handmade crafts for others!  Congratulations Ja'milah!
